Art for Covid Heroes
From October 2020 to January 2021 we had 9 Art and local produce giveaways, awarded 32 prizes and promoted 14 different creatives and local businesses!
Our aim was to promote local business whilst also making people smile and receive recognition for their amazing work and kindness!
This would not have been possible without The National Lottery funding we received through the community fund.
Below are some of the campaigns, prizes and winners!
The winning nomination won a hamper full of Quince Honey Farm goodies!
Winning Nomination: Emma Newbury – I would love to nominate Rob Pudner aka Entertainingly Different. All through the first lockdown, he took to Facebook and every Friday and Saturday morning he did free live streams of entertainment ( rise and shine) full of fun, laughter, silliness, songs and stories… He made his garden his stage of beautiful colours, flags, puppets and books..and dressed in his bright wonderful suits. He brought so much happiness into our house and we joined in with his songs and silliness. It definitely gave us as a family something to look forward to each week during those scary uncertain times… My son has severe complex needs ( so we had to shield him)and he’s a huge fan of Rob and as my son can only express himself through facial expressions/body language every time Rob went live my son would get so excited and try to lift his arms to join in with him … I’m forever grateful for what Rob has done and his selfless acts of pure kindness deserve to be recognised.
Winning Comment!
Hayley Joy, what does the Arts mean to me? – The arts were a great comfort to me particularly when I was young and learning where I fit into the world. I never found social interaction came easily – I always, always said or did the wrong things. The arts helped me understand humans in a way that humans weren’t able to explain themselves. Now, they continue to provide a wealth of comfort – not just to me – in so many different ways. They inspire, explain, comfort, confuse and so much else. Where would we be without them?
Prizes consisted of a Gilded card from Danni Bradford, a wooden painted angel by Sophie Cobb and a nutcracker ballerina by Blostma and Merewif.
8 winners won either an A3 print from Oddasea, a piece of Katherine Barber Jewellery and a pair of earrings from Caroline Curtis.
